The Multidisciplinary University Research and Service Camp, has been held at the ASCEMCOL since 2009 and by 2021 it will be hold its eleventh version, for which the rural population of Roldanillo, located in the north of the department of Valle del Cauca, has been chosen. Throughout the days in which the event takes place, there are intervention days that consist in basic and specialized medical consultation, Promotion and prevention, dental consultation and educational sessions that are carried out jointly by the national officers from ASCEMCOL; at the same time, research protocols proposed by the participants of the event are applied. Usually, 350 to 450 medical students participate, some of which are international participants, and an average of more than 1500 people from the intervened populations are attended.
The main objectives of the CUMIS, besides allowing the participants to apply and integrate their acquired knowledge in medical training, are to serve as a tool for the exchange of information and experiences among medical students, as well as to serve as a situational diagnostic approach and needs of the intervened populations, to then allow a follow-up of these needs and the magnitude of the impact achieved with the intervention.
As director of the organizing committee and on behalf of all its members, I hope that the initiative to be able to build a country and be part of the change, will motivate you to meet in the land of the soul, art and culture, where surely more than being part of the event, you will be agents of changes in the lives of many people.
