The International Scientific Contest on Rare Diseases (CCIER) is an event that brings together people interested in these conditions in a two-day session. Every year it has the participation of medical students, medical specialists, graduate students and of course the families and patients affected by rare diseases.
In 2021 the seventh version of the CCIER will be held, this time it will be in charge of the Scientific Association of Medical Students of the Universidad del Valle (ACEMVAL). Due to the current situation secondary to the COVID-19 pandemic, as an organizing committee we have made the decision to hold the event virtually, it will take place on July 30 and 31 of this year.
We believe that as students and future professionals, we must not only understand the pathophysiology of the disease or its prevalence, but also understand that studying a disease or group of diseases implies coming into contact with a human being; who is an entity with many facets and with a reality beyond a medical office. This is our bet with the CCIER this year.
This event is made up of two parts: the first consists of an academic day in which the participants of the event have the opportunity to learn more about rare diseases. For this, we have the participation of expert doctors on the subject and people who from different government agencies carry out projects related to these conditions.
The second part of the event consists of a contest in which medical students from all over Colombia submit their research papers on rare diseases and a jury selects the best papers, which will be awarded.
We look forward to your participation in this great event!
